sunshine!!!

we had a jammed pack weekend of lots of fun activities...below is a few highlights from the many festivities!

...my sister-in-law tiffany picked out the best spot to celebrate my birthday...thanks tiff!!! we went to Le Happy (a crepe bar), and had super yummy crepes and stiff drinks. the atmosphere and food was fabulous!
this is the lovely macdonald family, i must just say a few words about the amazing tiffany...first of all in this pic she is a week from her due date and looks amazing!!! also that morning she did make-up for 11 people! on sunday she hosted mothers day brunch and walked all over town with us in the hot sunny weather.
i tell ya, she impressed me this weekend!!!

mothers day brunch at the macdonald's...

the cutest ever miss penny!

believe me these flowers get lots of water!

this was just a few of the things we filled up our weekend with...we also went to a house warming party for my friend heather and got to tour her lovely new home and visit with friends which was awesome! we tried to enjoy as much of the sunshine in brownsville as we could by visiting the farmers market, having breakfast at the coffee shop, and swimming in the river.

i'm going to miss brownsville so much!

new puppy...

...lucy has a new friend named kimber! she is super cute and loves to bite at allie's lips and lick the slobber off her mouth. allie is not sure what to think of kimber, but i think they will be bestest friends when kimber grows up!

remodeling - round 2

we had a very productive long weekend of remodeling, thanks to brian's mom and dad, and we even hired a personal chef for the weekend...my sister sarah! if you haven't had a chance to experience sarah's cooking you are really missing out. we ate some incredible food and had lots of leftovers to finish up throughout the week. brian's grandma iris also sent up a pot of chili, a huge bag of dried bananas and her super perfect and famous cookies! i have never seen anyone make such perfect uniform cookies...i don't know how she does it! she is amazing!
paul and tony were such a great help this weekend...they were the best work horses ever!!! i don't think we can thank them enough for all of there hard work. they did anything from scrapping moss of the roof to helping paint the whole entire house from top to bottom. hopefully when they come to visit next time they won't have to sleep on cots! :)
THANK YOU PAUL, TONY & SARAH, WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!!!
as you can see from the following posts and pictures we are making great headway on our "diamond in the rough!" the hardwood floor guys should finish laying the new floor in the kitchen this week and by the end of next week all the floors should be refinished! we ordered new windows yesterday, so they should be here in a few weeks and after the windows are installed we will give the outside a new look! we of course still have lots to do as far as fishing painting, installing doors and cabinets, rewiring new light fixtures, and we haven't even started on the bathroom yet! some days i wonder if we will ever get everything done, it is sure lots of work! brian is coming home to b'ville this weekend, which we are both excited about...i think he needs a break! well, that is the latest and greatest update on the tenbusch's...hope you enjoy the following pics, i posted lots!
before....
after...
(notice the removal of the awnings and palm tree)

hallway...

this use to be a door way to the kitchen from the back entry, but brian removed the door and arched the entry...it turned out really good!

one of the bedrooms...

remodeling - round 2 (living room)

AFTER...
we still have to refinish the mantle, but thanks to tony it is completely stripped!

this is the front entry...

i'm testing out this spicy color on the front entry...what do you think?

remodeling - round 2 (removal of wall)

remember the wall between the living room and the kitchen...
remember this pic of the demolition and re-structure...
know it looks like this....
and this...
it is crazy to think that someone lived in this house for 50+ years and couldn't see out the front window from the kitchen! the wall turned out awesome and it looks like it always should have been that way...which is what we were going for!

remodeling - round 2 (kitchen)

AFTER...
(we also replaced the bored above the sink with a solid curve rather then the scalloped edge look, but it was done after i took pictures)

AFTER...

we were trying to decide between the two tile options for the backslash, and i think the winner is the green! we will pair it with black counters and stainless steel handles and appliances. the hardwood floors are being installed today in the kitchen...the refinishing of all the wood floors should be finished by the end of next week...i can't wait to see the finished look!

painting booth!

this is our lovely car port...brian was able to make into a painting booth for all of our doors! it worked out perfect...i tell ya that boy has some of the most amazing ideas!
good work!!!

our crib...

...thought you might all be wondering were we have been staying during the remodeling. well, we have been in the basement! here is a few pics of our current living quarters!

penny pants!

i was able to make a quick early morning stop at sherwood to give penny some aunt libbers love and also check on the bun in the oven. i can't believe how big penny is getting...she is just growing up way to fast! and i think the little guy is almost ready to make his appearance into the "real" world! tiff looks amazing, she makes this pregnancy thing look way to easy!
we went to the local bakery for a doughnut and milk, which was very scrumptious! and then a quick stroll downtown in finish out the visit. thanks for the great visit miss penny!
