summer has arrived!

yeah for summer...i think it has finally arrived! we got home from our trip to alaska on sunday and it was so nice to come to warm sunshine! miss evelyn got a new sprinkler from my girlfriend april while we were in alaska and aunt tiffany had just got her a new swimsuit, so we decided to forget about unpacking our suitcases and just play in the sunshine. boy did she have fun...i think the sprinkler was a hit!

i realized that it has been forever since i have wrote an evelyn update. we have just been so busy the last few months that i haven't taken the time to write much.
were should i start??!! miss evie has been keeping me on my toes now that she is running everywhere. she loves to play in the dirt and rocks, in fact i think she prefers that over any of her toys. she has 4 bottom teeth, 2 top teeth, and i just noticed yesterday that she is getting two upper molars...that explains the crankiness. :) we are almost done nursing, i wanted to wait until after our move and trip to alaska to officially be done. she doesn't like to drink milk, not even chocolate or vanilla, so if any of you have any tricks up your sleeves i will take them. other then the milk she continues to be a good eater with frozen blueberries and cheese being her absolute favorite. eveyln has also stated feeding herself with a fork and spoon a little bit...i think more goes down her shirt then gets in her mouth, but i guess that it the process of learning. she has been talking a ton, not that i understand any of it, but it is sure cute to have a conversation with her. she has slowed down a bit in the growth department, i think at her one year appt. she was 23lbs which put her in the 80th percentile and her height put her in the 23rd percentile, by her stats you can see that she is a great eater! :) she loves playing patty cake and has recently started playing peek-a-boo. it is fun when they start getting things, she will peak around the corner at me waiting for my to see her, it is so cute! yesterday i told her that we were going to go "by by" so she went and got me my shoes and they even matched!
it seems that every stage brings more fun and new challenges, we just try to enjoy every bit of it because before you now it they will be too busy to want mom all time or cuddle on your lap. we are just lovin' her up!!!

ps-we had an awesome time in alaska and have lots of fun pictures to share. i will try and get them posted soon!

...and were off!

we leave this afternoon on vacation for9 days to alaska! it has been a busy week getting ready for the trip. brian threw his back out on sunday, so he has been to the chiropractor everyday this week trying to get in tip-top shape for vacation. he is feeling better although they still don't want him doing anything strenuous like lifting suitcases or 25lbs kids! so looks like i will be carrying the misses on my back on lugging around suitcases. :) i'm just glad he is feeling good enough that he will be able to fish and have a good time. i'm just hoping he doesn't hook a big one and throw his back out again! :) the douglas family arrives tomorrow night in alaska and then we stay at coopers landing in a cabin for 5days and the the rest of the days we will be spending in anchorage visiting with my college girlfriend april and her family. she just had a baby on evie's birthday, so i'm looking forward to meeting the little guy. wish us luck on our travels and we will have lots of pictures to share when we return.

evelyn's birthday party pics...finally!

i had so much fun throwing miss evelyn her first birthday party. we hosted a brunch party in longview. it was actually our last weekend in washington, so i guess it was sort of a farewell party too. all our family came up and a few of our close friends from longview joined in on the festivities.
this is the birthday banner that i made for the party...i think there is a closer pic to come.
(my mom and mother-in-law helped a bit too!)
the back of it...i loved how all the bright fabric colors went together
we made lots of pom-pom flowers to hang around the house and patio...
the birthday girl wanted to open a present early...she loves her new bike and mom loves the tall handle on it! :)

aunt sasa and gwynn...
aunt lucy putting a few finishing touches on brunch...

sweet gwynn and avery reading a story...
our awesome neighbors that we are going to miss soooo much! :(
they brought their house in longview a month before us and they found out a few weeks after we told them we were moving back to oregon that they were moving to san jose!
so maybe that makes it easier to say good-bye since they are moving too! so if you know of anyone that needs two really cute houses on the same street we could maybe hook them up! :)

charlie and mr. payton...
ashley getting lots of practice with sweet baby jane (pam's daughter)...
the fam...
pretty girls avery and pam...
(pam took all of the pics towards the end of the post...thank you!)
lucy's raspberry cheesecakes she made for the party...isn't evie's baby one so cute?!
if you look real close at the banner, you can see the cute little flowers in the middle that my mohter-in-law helped me with...

somebody doesn't look like she likes her birthday hat...
(my friend pam made the hats...i loved them!)
happy birthday to you...

luckily she had lots of eager helpers to open the presents...
everyone loved the drum...

miss evelyn's birthday...

on may 20th our little miss turned one...it was a thursday and her party wasn't until satruday, so mom and dad did some celebrating with her. we made blueberry pancakes with whip cream for breakfast...yum yum!
she loved the whip cream!
then we opened a few presents...
later in the day we meet dad at the swimming pool...
our little birthday girl had so much fun swimming and being silly in the pool...the yellow noodle was a big hit!
we then headed to new morning bakery for a snack and a treat...we didn't last long there, our little swimmer was ready for a birthday nap! :)
birthday party pics coming up next...i promise!!!
