twins!!!

nope, i'm not having twins, but this pretty heifer did! :)
first calves of the year and they were twins!  which is very uncommon with cows.  i think my dad said it had been 9 years since they had the last set.
a boy and girl, i think the boy was almost 20lbs heavier then the girl!
i just learned from my dad that the girls are sterile when they are born with a boy, they are called freemartins.  don't you feel smarter now that you know that?!
the lighting was super bad in the barn, so i tried to b&w this one...
miss e was a little nervous about petting the baby calves...
 us with the big boy!
luckly for these twins they have a super good mama cow to take care of them.
getting the eggs...miss e was a little disapointed that there was only two, but its that time of year when they don't lay much.
farmer ed and his bull!!! :)
miss a wearing her rubber boots for the first time...

it was a fast day trip down to meet the twins, but it worked out perfect.  we spent some time outside, took gale our for a birthday dinner and then the girls slept the whole way home!
we love visiting old macdonald's farm!!!

friends!

last weekend we got to hang out with some of our favorite boys!  isn't this the cutest bunch of kiddos ever?!
(knox 13 months, evelyn 3 1/2, amelia 15 months, caleb 3 1/2, and sweet baby eli 3 months)
amelia showing a little spice!
my girlfriends loved seeing the spicy side of our smiley girl! :)

 cute, Cute, CUTE!!!

while the hubby's went winter steelhead fishing, us ladies and our kiddos played!  caleb and eli have so many fun toys that our little ladies always enjoy a play date with them.  it was nice to just let them play and then us mama's could catch up with each other.  thanks again ada for hosting us all and lisa is was so great to see your and mr. knox!  i always love my visits with these girls!  since my little ladies mastered playing trucks, trains, and balls, now its our turn to host the boys so we can teach them how to play babies and kitchen! :)
can't wait to do it again!!!!

ps-sorry baby eli for not getting a cuter picture of that sweet face of yours.  next time i promise!  he really is a super good baby and looks more like his dad then his brother!  is that even possible?!

chasing sunshine!!!

the last week or so we have been living in the valley fog.  after a week or so it can get to you.   brian kept telling me about all the sunshine he was soaking up in the higher elevations.   so when the weekend came i told him we were heading east to find some sun! :)  we thought we would end up in sisters, but we only went about 15 miles up the pass and we found blue skies and warm sunshine.  turns out it was were one of brian's jobs was, so evelyn and him did a little work while amelia and i soaked up some much needed vitamin D!
miss e posing on some trees!
she pretty much thinks her dad is the coolest guy in the world because he gets to look at trees and work around big equipment! :)

we went on a little nature walk/hike and miss e thought we should get our picture next to the root ball.  this girl is such a collector, we had to make several trips back to the truck so she could drop off her treasures. :)

the sunshine was amazing, in fact we laid a blanket out in the back of he truck and just soaked up as much as our little tigers would let us. :)

this crazy girl just wanted to go swimming in the river!

evelyn teaching amelia how to collect rocks...

sometimes it doesn't take much to entertain us, a little sunshine and a rocky beach and we are set!   in four weeks we will be soaking up some real sunshine in palm springs!  i can't wait, i'm in need of some swimsuit weather! :)

fish cake!!!

we had a little party last night to celebrate brian's birthday.  miss e was the party planner! :)  as most of you know she is super super into birthday parties.  so, she requested that we decorate the house in valentines and make a fish cake that is orange in the middle with silver sprinkles.  it wasn't until a few days after she requested the cake that i realized she was making  a salmon cake, which happens to be her favorite fish to eat!  so now i get it, the orange cake is the meat and the silver sprinkles are the scales! :)  at the last minute she wanted to make some blue bubbles coming out of the fish's mouth!
so her she is....
 so proud of her fish!
 birthday boy and his girls
 making a wish...
i have to admit its nice having a little party planner!  she tells me her ideas and then i can have fun with it.   the cake was orange flavored with orange butter cream frosting...tasted a bit like a orange creamcicle!  it was yummy!!!
and just in case your wondering miss e already has her 4 year old birthday planned out.  i love listening to her tell me about it, she has such a creative little mind!
so if your in need of some party ideas , i have the perfect little planner for you! :)

ringing in the new year!!!

wow...what a week we have had!  i would be lying if  i said we are all well, but i do think we are on the road to recovery!  since our sickness started on new years and then managed to work  its way through our entire house, maybe we will just push the resist button and start our new year over!  so here is goes....
we spent new years at sunriver with the douglas fam!  the weather was super cold, but sunny and very pretty!  i love when everything is covered in white sparkly snow, such a fresh look compared to the wet brown valley this time of year! :)  don't you love the cute pic of all the kiddos above?  they all had so much fun playing in snow together!

and these two ladies couldn't get a enough of the bunny sledding hill....
i think we have a gazillion pics of these two girls...they were just so full of smiles and silly faces....
mouth open sledding...
not sure where she learned the stick your tongue out look?! :)
love this one...both just totally belly laughing!!!
this little lady loved the recliner version sled!  thanks douglas fam for always having the coolest sleds! :)
just like the other little ladies, she was all smiles as long as your were pulling her in the recliner sled!

dad and evelyn doing some serious sledding....
this was them right after it...i think they had a good time! :)
LOVE these two!!!
me and my cuddle bug!
tyler and easton taking a lunch break....
notice the building in the background....this was a warming hut at a sledding hill at the base of mt. bachlor.   we spent one day there and i'm not sure if the kids or the parents had more fun at this stop!  super fun sledding hill!

these two are two peas in a pod!  they have so much in common its crazy!
i think this is my favorite pic from the whole weekend!
here they are working!  :)
evelyn is mowing the snow...
while easton shovels the sled full of snow...
tanner showing us his moves...
easton the man..
the two littlest ladies enjoying another sled pull ride!

such a great time in the snow!!!  we always look forward to our trips to sunriver, such a great place with lots of  fun things to do with kids.  well, since we are starting our new year over...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
