twins!!!

nope, i'm not having twins, but this pretty heifer did! :)

 first calves of the year and they were twins!  which is very uncommon with cows.  i think my dad said it had been 9 years since they had the last set.

 a boy and girl, i think the boy was almost 20lbs heavier then the girl! 

 i just learned from my dad that the girls are sterile when they are born with a boy, they are called freemartins.  don't you feel smarter now that you know that?!

 the lighting was super bad in the barn, so i tried to b&w this one...

 miss e was a little nervous about petting the baby calves...

 luckly for these twins they have a super good mama cow to take care of them.

 getting the eggs...miss e was a little disapointed that there was only two, but its that time of year when they don't lay much.

it was a fast day trip down to meet the twins, but it worked out perfect.  we spent some time outside, took gale our for a birthday dinner and then the girls slept the whole way home!

we love visiting old macdonald's farm!!!
