doesn't her face painting look fabulous?! she is pretty serious about it! :)
checking gwynn's kitty's heart beat :)so stinkin' cute!!!!group effort brushing alligators teeth...made a trip down to the ranch to visit the new retirees! my dad and gale both just recently retired and i don't think they could be happier. they are loving the retired life!brian thought it would be fun to weigh evelyn on the calf scales...i think she thought differently!it seems the winter weather is finally here. i loved all those cold dry sunny days we had, but reality has set in and the rain is here. we are keeping are selves busy, but we seem to already be anticipating the spring...i think we might be in for a long winter! :)

ps-evelyn made the birthday banner and tree cake for brian. she wanted to make him a tree cake because he looks for trees at work. :) evelyn tells me daily that dada is a "working man!" she also wanted to make sure there were 5 deer on the cake, one for each of us including allie! evelyn surprise me daily with her thoughtfulness.

we weathered the flood!

by friday morning all the water was out of our front and back yard...thank goodness! besides lots of clean up i think we weathered the flood pretty well. we managed to accumulate lots of firewood from the flood, but that disappeared quickly when we stacked it at the end of the driveway with a free sign on it. :) the fence will obviously need to be fixed, but we have to wait for the ground to dry out a bit. lets just hope that we are done with the flooding for awhile. thanks to everyone who helped and offered to help, we really appreciate it!!!

flood update...

as of 4pm thursday night we have water surrounding our entire house. there is a really strong current in the front and back of the house.
the fence finally broke on the east and west side :(
notice my garden boxes tied to the tree so they don't float away and the panel of fence floating in our backyard river...looking off our back deck at the neighbors house...so far the play structure is holding strong...looks like we will have some yard projects in the near future. i think we have a court of firewood floating in our backyard and all the rock has been washed off our driveway. and who knows what the yard will look like when the water is gone. luckily our house is built a foot higher then the 100 year flood mark. so for now we will just hunker down and enjoy are river view. :)

flooding!!!

this is what the backyard looked like at 8 this morning...
this is noon today!the water is almost going over are 4 foot fence in the back! my garden boxes were floating around the yard, so my sweet father-in-law come over and put brian's hip waiters on and tied them to a tree so they don't float away.this is the neighbors house, there is a strong current of water going from our backyard to his front yard which is flooded as well...
the water is starting to surround the front of the house now and the fence has begun to fall over on the east and west sides do to the strong current. i know we live in a flood plain, but i never thought i would see the day of this much water. more pics to come...

our little lady at 3 months!

miss amelia continues to be our sweet mannered little miss. she is full of smiles these days when she isn't drooling from chewing on her fingers. :) she likes to go to bed between 7 and 7:30 and still sleeps in her co-sleeper swaddled tight. she charms me with the biggest smile when she wakes up in the morning...oh how i LOVE the baby smiles!
she is getting really good as holding her head up...look at those chubby legs! evelyn continues to be a big helper. she absolutely adores her little sister and surprising is really gentle with her. evelyn loves to read books to her while i'm in the shower. in the car evelyn likes to sing to amelia, her favorites being; the abc's, twinkle twinkle little star, and itsy bitsy spider. sometimes i ask evelyn if she can watch sister for me, while i run upstairs and she never turns me down...what a sweet big sister! evelyn wanted baby sister to try out her doll cradle...looks like she liked it! :)amelia's eyes are still really blue. evelyn's were brown when she was born, so i never had any question of what color they would be. so we might have a blue eyed girl joining our brown eyed girl. :)such a kissable face...trying out the bumbo...it has been fun looking back at my blog when evelyn was 3 months. so far they seems to have really similar personalities. i do think they look like sisters, but they also have their own look too. i think evleyn has more of brian's eyes and amelia has more my shape of eyes. i'm sure once amelia starts taking evelyn's toys, she might not be the sweet big sister. but for now i'm just going to enjoy my little ladies and their sweetness to each other!

mornings with sas...

when sas's neighbor is out of town, she takes care of her small farm of animals. evelyn loves helping sas feed the goats, ducks, chickens, and jake the cat.
putting the goats medicine in a prune...
getting the grain pans ready for the goats...then they put the pans in the field...the ducks have a floating grain pan on a ramp :)a gorgeous morning with pepper and monte the goats...evelyn will talk for hours about her fun mornings feeding the animals. as you can imagine she takes her job very serious. :)
thanks aunt sas for always letting me help you....i love our mornings together!!!
love, evelyn
