after a week of all being sickies, we were ready to have some fun for the weekend! the girls seemed to have fought of the head cold, but mine lingered. so, even though the douglas crew didn't get to stay with us for the weekend we managed to catch up with them for a little bit at american dream for pizza and then some HOT beaver football! it felt like it was 100 in the stadium! :)
the cutest beaver fan!
this girl was so proud of her tattoo! she wanted me to take a pic of it so she could see how good it looked!
these two are pretty silly together!
the crew minus miss amelia...
the next day we headed north to spend some time in the city...first stop was the spray park to cool off...
then the zoo!!!
cheese!!!!
evelyn and the ram...she wanted to get a picture on the ram because dad is going on a ram hunt this year and he is pretty much her favorite person in the whole wide world!!!
ice cream time!
then we watched the swifts (birds) put on a show above this nw portland elementary school and then swarm down is the chimney at a high rate of speed. i can't describe how cool this was, you have to see it to experience it! check out this video and website for more on the birds. (we got to see the hawk try and catch the swifts 5 times!)
if you live in the portland area i highly recommend you make time to see this sometime this month. thanks to sarah's boyfriend keith for showing us!!!
then it was a slumber party at aunt sasa's!
the next morning, keith (sarah's boyfriend) and i ran a trail race together in forest park.
it was my first trail race, it was lots of fun you just really have to pay attention, so you don't trip on a root, rock, etc. those who know me, know that i'm clumsy, so believe me i had a few close calls! :)
we had a yummy breakfast at a french bakery and then it was off to washington park to ride the train.
we got to ride the steam train on the way there and this retro looking one on the way back!
these little tigers loved the train ride! my littlest lady is slightly obsessed with anything that moves!
thanks aunt sas and keith for the awesome weekend in the city!
ps-i was telling evelyn that we were in the city and that we live in the country back at home, so later in the night i caught her telling sister that! hey sis, "this is the city, isn't it pretty?" "sas lives in the city, but we live in the country!" too cute! i love hearing evelyn teaching sister things! :)
