new years road trip...

we ventured out to central washington for new years weekend. our destination was ellensburg where my girlfriend mindy and her husband mike live. we also made some exciting stops along the way. the drive was gorgeous with all the fresh snow.
1st stop-elk feeding station
brian estimated that there were around 400 elk at this one station!

there was a ton of big bulls because they only give out spike and cow tags in this area...

feeding time...

2nd stop-big horn sheep feeding station
the biggest ram of the heard...

brian called this the bachelor heard :)
loving the fresh air and snow...
the best seat in the house...dad's shoulders
sarah and dj met up with us at the feeding stations and then we went to lunch at one of dj's hole in the wall restaurants that he frequents during hunting season. the food was very tasty, although the best part about the restaurant was the name, "the woodshed". sarah was excited that they had the duck game on...at least they didn't win! :)

then it was off to ellensburg for the weekend where we had an awesome time visiting with mike and mindy. they have been remodeling there house over the last year, so it was great to see all the progress. they live in a cedar home so it was like a cabin in the snow for us...it even had a toasty warm wood stove, that they installed last spring.
mindy in front of central washington university were she works as the marketing director...
mindy and i spent the day walking around downtown, while the boys were off doing boy things. the bob stroller did awesome in all the snow!
looking cute together...
the sky right before sunset...it was a little cloudy while we were there so me missed the view of the mountains, but the miles and miles of snowy farm fields were pretty
staying cozy in the cabin...
mike and the little miss...

thanks mike and mindy for such an awesome weekend!
we can't wait to come back this summer and see more progress on the remodel and soak up some summer sunshine in the 'burg!
