alaska pics-round 1..

day three-tenbusch clan at eklutna lake...

alaska was amazing...there was so much beautiful scenery to see everywhere! it reminded brian and i of our honeymoon in Canada. miss eveyln had a great time explore the outdoors with mom and dad. she was such a trooper on the trip, i guess maybe she is use to being on the go all the time with her crazy mom and dad! we arrived in alaska late friday night and then spent the next three days in anchorage visiting one of my bestest friends april and her family, and then also doig some day trips to explore alaska. april was an amazing hostess, she went above and beyond for us and she just had a baby 4 weeks ago....thank you apes for making our trip so seem less!

miss e on the flight to ak, we were lucky enough to get a seat for her on the way there and back, so she slept most of the plane rides. she really took a liking to my ipod, she would get this serious look on her face when she was listening to the music and wanted to pack it around the airport even once we landed...silly girl!

first day we did an all day road trip...first stop was portage glacier. it is hard to see from the pic, but the glaciers have a really pretty blue tint to them.
this is portage lake...all the melting glaciers feed this lake.
the lake water was freezing, obviously since there is ice floating in it :)
then we ventured off to an old fishing town called Whittier. below you can see the small entrance into the mountain which takes you to Whittier. it is actually a railroad tunnel that they still use, so there is only certain times cars can go through it and its only wide enough for one car.
this is the inside of the tunnel...it is hard to see, but it is all rock inside and you drive in it for three miles to get to Whittier
the bay at Whittier, which is part of the alaska marine hwy, so there is lots of big boats that come through
you can see all the snow melt running down the mountain into the bay...there was waterfalls everywhere
that evening we went to potter's marsh, with april and the kids...
john, april (holding baby issac), and hannah
it was windy and wet, but we can't complain because every other day we were there the weather was great considering we were in alaska :)

hannah babe...this girl is a crack up, i loved spending time with her!
and we spotted a bull moose...can you see him?
their he is!
day two the douglas family arrived and we hiked flattop mtn in anchorage.
the three girlfriends and babies :)
the view of the anchorage was awesome...
trucking up the steep trail...the kids did great!

miss e loved the hike, but got tuckered out on the way down and took a snooze in the backpack :)
the three stooges...hannah, tanner, and john
the crew that almost made it to the top! they didn't recommend kids on the last part of the trail because it was really steep and rocky
day three we visited Eklutna lake and it was a gorgeous and hot sunny day in ak...perfect for a picnic and walk at the lake.
loving the sun and view at lunch time with the douglas fam
john and tanner...these two boys had so much fun playing together!
i love the rugged moutains in the background of this pic, you could see them everywhere on a clear day...
hannah with her new baby brother...
baby issac...
we had a great time in anchorage the first few day and then it was off to the kenai peninsula to stay at a cabin and fish red salmon on the russian river. stay tunned...round 2 pics coming soon!
