after spending a few days in anchorage we were ready to head to the keani pennisula to enjoy alaska's outdoors and to do some fishing.
at the russian river getting his fishing poles ready, evelyn of course wanted to help. she wants to do anything and everything her dada does!
and she is off with the fishing line...

hiking up to the russian river falls...it was just under six miles round trip. i think we hiked in 3-4 times while we were there. it was a really nice hike and the fishing was really good at the falls.

we cleaned them at the river and then just packed the fillets...
evie was disappointed that brian wouldn't let her hold the raw salmon...maybe next time sweetie! :)
we stayed out a little past her bedtime...it never gets dark in alaska in the summer, so it was easy to loose track of time.

one day we drove to seward and spent the day...the weather was gorgeous so we decided to take a boat ride out into the gulf of alaska and kenai fjords national park.

we had a great time in alaska! i think it is for sure in our top 10 as far as vaction spots...i'm sure we will be back to visit the big state for some more alaskan adventure. we brought some red salmon home, which will be yummy to eat. we didn't bring as much as we thought we would because this year was actually the smallest salmon run in years. but we are happy we still caught some fish, you just had to work hard to limit out. which in the years past it sometimes just took an hour our two to limit out. it was great being in the outdoors for a week just enjoying each other and the fun advetures we had...oh i love vacation!!!
