projects and more...

the last few weekends we have been busy finishing up some projects and spending time with friends and family. a few weekends ago brian had a saturday field trip for work in jacksonville, so evelyn and i tagged along. we made a quick stop at the ranch to visit my dad and gale and take my dad out for a birthday dinner. then it was off to jacksonville, i just love that town, its like a bigger version of brownsville. we stayed in a fun place downtown that we could walk to coffee and enjoy the cuteness of the town. while brian was at the field trip, evelyn and i had a girls date with kat and lila. i love that we can have girls dates now. :) we went to a yummy place in ashland for breakfast and then spent the afternoon with the boys. thanks douglas fam for such a fun visit!

evelyn looking cool in miss lila's sunglasses...

and easton looking like a stud muffin in his sunglasses! the sunglasses were all the rage at the douglas household! :) we all went to dinner before making the trek home, and i couldn't resist taking this cute picture of kat with her three cute kids. (lila was looking, but i wasn't quick enough!)
after returning home brian started his shop remodeling project. he wanted to replace the two garage doors with one so it was easier to back the boat into. which also led to taking a wall out, replacing a beam, moving shelving, etc. you get it, a HUGE project, but remember we love projects! :) or is it just that they are never ending??!! thanks to brian's dad and brother for helping and two weekends later the boat in is the shop and i would have to say that it looks more organized that it ever has. good work brian!!! evelyn and i weren't much help, in fact we disappeared for the day so he could work on it with no interruptions. we had a fun day in portland visiting the macdonald fam, and doing a little shopping with grandma.

and here is a little sneak peak of the railing that brian built for the back deck...
i still can't believe that he cut out ever bar and welded ever single one, what a project! we picked it up from the powder coat shop a few weeks ago and i love how it turned out! it so nice having such a handy husband! :)

its nice to finish up a few big projects because this summer it going to be all about playing. i think this is the first summer that we have been married that were not moving, remodeling a house, attending five wedding in one summer (although that was pretty fun), etc. we have lots of camping trips already on the calendar and i can't wait for campfires, smores and fun times in the sun with friends and family! summer please come soon, we are missing you!!!
