i would like to first say that we have INCREDIBLE family and friends...THANK YOU so much for all your help on the roof project, we couldn't have done it without you! now for the pictures of the process...
remember this was the original house when it was on the market...
after we bought it and cleaned it up a bit....new paint, old roof
and the finished project with a new roof!!!
it was a weekend of lots of work, the crew worked their tails off! i tried to keep them well feed and hydrated, which i think i did because they stuck around all weekend and got the project done! :) the crew consist of brian, jim (awesome work horse step-dad), charlie (awesome brother), kelly (awesome neighbor and friend), molly & chris (our other awesome neighbors and friends), and we also hired our friend and handyman Zak. brian started doing tear off on thursday night and then continued all day friday, our awesome neighbors kelly and chris helped in the evening and then the "crew" was here all day saturday and sunday.
this small chimney came down...it was used for our old gas furnace that we have replaced with an electric one.
brian doing tear off and knocking the chimney down...
we had to re-sheet the whole roof, because the old wood was ship-lap which was brittle...
new sheeting...
hmmm....now what should we do here??
we ended up having 2.5 tons of garbage from the roof!
so that's the process, just in case any of my readers are interested in putting on a new roof. :) we on the other hand should be done with major projects, i'm not sure what else we could do, besides maybe tear it down and start all over again...i think i will pass. the roof turned out awesome i still can't believe they got in done in one weekend! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all that helped, we appreciate it tremendously!!!!
